For over 7 years, Baz Emera has fast become one of Melbourneʼs most respected
house DJs with an undisputed talent for delivering deep soulful house to faithful
crowds in Asia and Australia. On top of having spread his energy and vibe throughout
the clubs in China, in particular Mint (Shanghai) Park 97 (Shanghai), and Bannana
Nightclub (Yangshuo), Baz has also graced the decks that overlook an unbelievable
sunset at Nammos Beach Club, Karma Resorts (Bali) and the NYE extravaganza at Di
Marre (Bali).
Utilizing his skills on the decks throughout Australia, Baz has inspired packed crowds
at exclusive clubs such as The Ivy (Sydney), Metro (Melbourne), Cargo Bar (Sydney),
Metro City (Perth), Vodka Bar (Adelaide), Calypso (Gold Coast), GPO (Melbourne) and
holds local weekly residencies at The Barkly, Baroq House, Ocean Blue, The Nest, Rah
Bar and White Charlie. His guest spots include Everybody Events, Live One Day,
Alumbra, Tryst, Neverland, TFU, Boutique and Marrakesh. As well as moving and
shaking the dance floors, Bazʼs talents have seen him DJing at some of Melbourneʼs
biggest dance festivals such as Summadayze (2007 & 2008) and Betterdays NYD
(2009) featuring Ron Carrol. His radio appearances include guest spots on the long
running dance radio station Kiss FM, and has been a feature on John Course and
Grant Smilies ʻOverdriveʼ on NOVA.
Bazʼs distinguishable style, comprised of elements from all genres, including
percussion, soul, Rnb and vocal, makes for not one specific sound but a blend of
eclectic elements. His soulful yet uplifting sets combined with his ability to read any
audience is what makes him unique, and his success has led him to support
international giants including Martin Solveig, Andy Ward (Soul Heaven), Dj Gregory, Dj
Spen, Hardsoul, Miguel Migs, Brian Tappert, Simon Dunmore, Lou Vega (Masters at
Work), Sandy Riviera (Kings of Tomorrow) and Freemasons, to name a few. On top of
having Djed at Melbourneʼs Spring Racing Carnival in the LʼOreal Australia Marquee
(2008 & 2009), Baz has also spun tunes at the Caulfield Cup Young Members Marquee
(2008), Caulfield Cup Austereo Marquee live with Seany B and Patricia Patterson (Dirty
Laundry), Grape Grazing Festival (2008), the launch of Arch Restaurants in Shanghai,
the official Bacardi launch (China), and held a residency at premier house night
'Defected in the House', Seven Nightclub (2007); this amongst countless other elite
parties. Most recently, he was asked to collaborate the soundtrack for Karma
Collections (2010).
At just 15 years old, Baz had an undeniable love of music and found himself inspired
by an array of artists such as Dru Hill, 112, Groove Theory, Jodeci, Keith Sweat,
Masters at Work, Andy Caldwell, Miguel Migs, Brian Tappert and Fred Everything.
Securing weekly residencies that started in Melbourneʼs underage dance scene, Baz
played alongside some of the finest mature age Djʼs, which led him to refine his craft
and standout amongst the rest.
It is only natural that 5 years on, Baz would turn his incredible talent and skill into his
own music, having teamed up with local man Ben Johns to form the group ʻLe Sillonʼ
and released their self titled EP. Creating several tracks, Le Sillonʼs ʻHeartbreakerʼ
appeared on the All Beautiful Artists soundtrack and their live shows thrilled crowds
around the state. Recently Baz has begun working with long time friend Mike Steva.
Baz and Mike have had instant success with their remix of Bass Chimps - Something
About You, after it was released on Generation Music (Available on Beatport.com).
They are releasing their next solo track under the alias of Soul Connection.
Even after all of Baz Emeraʼs impressive accomplishments, and still at the young age
of 25, Baz continues to push the barriers of house music and produce tunes that
inspire him.
